Capiz student writers join The Capiz Times journ workshop

The Capiz Times mentors hosted the Basic Journalism Workshop at the Hall of the Governors of the Capiz Provincial Capitol in Roxas City, Capiz which was joined by some 90 student writers and their coaches from different high schools and the Capiz State University (CapSU) in the Province of Capiz on October 19-20, 2013.

The speakers taught young writers as they tackled several topics on how to improve their writing skills. The objectives were enumerated by Mr. Niño Manaog, editor-in-chief of The Capiz Times who also discussed news writing; while the ethical rules in journalism were discussed by Mr. Rico Infante, editor-in-chief of The Capiz Chronicle.

Mr. Jose Arsenio Quinzon, reporter of The Capiz Times discussed field reporting and taught the participants on how to become an effective beat reporter.

To measure their learning from the lecture discussions, participants were assigned by Mr. Manaog to write a news story out of the topics discussed.
