Villanueva said that the first anniversary of Yolanda will serve as a thanksgiving day and a moment for to recognize all the people, agencies and groups—both local and foreign—who have helped the people of Capiz after the tragedy.

Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Officer Alphonsus Tesoro will lead the commemoration.

The remembrance should shed light on how Yolanda damaged the lives, properties and livelihood of the Capiceños but also how we were able to restore and rebuild.

The program will elaborate the Capiznon’s bayanihan way of coping after the typhoon and how “we were comforted by the presence of one another and the support of various agencies, individuals and organizations.”
