CNHS beats CapSU in debate finals

ROXAS CITY—After outwitting the Capiz State University (CapSU) Laboratory High School, the Capiz National High School (CHNS) Debate Circle was declared champion in the Debate Invitational Cup led by the Borres Youth Leadership Institute held recently at the Robinsons Place Roxas in Bgy. Lawaan here.


Earlier, the CNHS team trounced Filamer Christian University High School in the semi-finals.


The CNHS team consisted of Johanna Fuentes, Josyl Angelique Moises, and Philip Robert Alaban, who won also won Best Speaker and Best Debater awards, respectively.


The team’s researchers included Dexter Diaz, Kaira Claire Oducado, Ma. Rogemae Deseo, Christian Andrew Almalbis, Abegail Almeida, Dexter John Ocampo, Rex Meynard Cervales and John Vincent Bulquerin.


Ms. Anna May Escubio Candelario served as their coach.


According to Candelario, “Our team sought to develop CNHS students to be aware of what’s happening around and to make a robust stand on current social and political issues.”
