Int'l orgs place Capiz kids first

ROXAS CITY—Three humanitarian organizations here have stressed their continued support particularly on children’s health as part of their respective responses in the aftermath of Supertyphoon Yolanda in Capiz.

“UNICEF is happy to support the Provincial Health Office with vaccines, cold-storage facility and trainings,” UNICEF Philippines Country Office Field Operations Chief Margaret Sheehan said during the grand launching of the Measles Rubella Oral Polio Vaccine Mass Immunization Sept. 1.

Sheehan sought the support of barangay officials and residents for the success of the monthlong immunization against measles and polio diseases.

Meanwhile , ChildFund Representative Felomina Arroyo said that their organization has established one-stop shops for pregnant and lactating women and children below five years old as part of its nutrition program in covered areas.


For their part, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) also conveyed its support to uplift the health condition of the Capiceños in the same program.

“We came here to be part of the Haiyan response not only on shelter and livelihood but also to give much focus on health,” IOM Representative Allan Motus said.

Representatives of said organizations also took part in the ceremonial oral polio vaccination which highlighted the program.
